Spinach with Ikan Bilis recipe

Because the folks are away on a holiday, I took the perfect chance and liberty to be the 'head chef' and whip out a meal on my own! :)

The 4 dishes I cooked were: Spinach with ikan bilis, cai poh eggs, fried prawn rolls, and potato salad (recipe on sidebar).

So in this post I'm going to share how to cook the simple spinach with ikan bilis dish! :)

The ingredients we'll need:
A packet of spinach
A packet of ikan bilis
Garlic x 2 cloves, chopped
Cooking oil

Step 1.
You can get the ikan bilis at any NTUC Fairprice easily, but we'll need to clean it up before cooking it. So wad I did was to cut away the head and stomach so it won't taste bitter.

After cutting, it will look like this:

Step 2:
And for the spinach sold in a pack, we'll need to cut away the stalk (if you love to eat the stalk part you may keep it, and cut away the part that is 'whiskery' & joins the veg tgt. After cutting away, we'll need to 'inspect' the vegs and make sure to remove the leaves with white spots.

Step 3:
When all is done, start up a wok and boil the oil (3-4 tablespoons of oil). Stir fry the ikan bilis with the garlic until it turns light brown. Add in the veges and stir fry till it turns soft. This will take no more than 5-10 mins.

And viola! This is how it looks like when its done:

Tip: We won't need salt because the ikan bilis is salty already.
